Scott Hancox

The son of a Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer and a Retired Schoolteacher, Scott W. Hancox was born in Downey, California. Raised in Florida, he moved to the Bayview neighborhood of Norfolk, Virginia in 1979. He attended Roberts Park Elementary School, Northside Junior High School and graduated from Granby High School in 1986. In 1991, he earned a BSSE – Instrumental Music Degree from Old Dominion University, also in Norfolk, Virginia.

Mr. Hancox is currently a regular performing member of The Hampton Roads Metro Band where he has also been a guest conductor and soloist. He is a free-lance musician, private music instructor on Clarinet and Saxophone, professional musician, school band clinician, and adjudicator across Virginia. He holds professional memberships in the Virginia Music Educators Association (VMEA), Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association (VBODA), National Association for Music Education (NAfME), and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Professional Music Fraternity. He currently performs for several types for events including wine tasting, night clubs, hotel lounges and private events. He resides in the Wards Corner section of Norfolk
